The Morning After

Jack, Katherine & Michael @ dinner
Ethan, Bill and Jim at dinner
Katherine picked up Ethan from school and we had a fun recounting of his day. Michael had tennis and Jack had Musical Theater after school and rode the bus home about 2 hours later. Bill also rode the bus home. We had a great dinner last evening-pasta, Greek salad, fruit, corn, carrots, and garlic bread. Bill and Katherine raced around the kitchen to get it all together while Jim and I watched with vacant stares.

Katherine after the morning drive
After dinner was completed and just before I fell asleep in my plate I went to bed. It was about 8:00PM. Jim and I were settled in and asleep by 8:40 and didn't hear any sound from the rest of the family. This is a large house. First floor has Michael's bedroom with a balcony overlooking the bay, living room, playroom which has an open gas fireplace serving as a room divider, den, bathroom, dining room, and huge kitchen. There is a balcony overlooking the bay off the living room and the playroom. Second level has the two bedrooms for Ethan and Jack and a bathroom. Up 6 more steps is the Master bedroom suite with a big bathroom, walk-in closet and small alcove for a twin bed and other assorted things.  Hardwood floors through out and lots of art deco glass windows and doors in the 1920's portion of the house. Really light and airy and comfortable.

Everybody was up dressed and off to school before we got moving good. We slept almost 10 hours and that sure felt good to me. Having a shower was also terrific! Katherine drove the boys to school and Bill to work. She returned and we chatted about life in Sydney.

View from the balcony of the bay
This morning we sat on the balcony off from the kitchen and listened to the most amazing assortment of birds singing, tree frogs chirping, and butterflies gliding. We watched the ferry come in and leave from the other side of the bay- the central Sydney area. This is a steep hillside and reminds us both a lot of San Francisco bay housing. Next door people have built a garage and on the top of the garage they added a small yard so the children could play outside in the grass. Across the way we saw a basketball goal post on a roof play area. The sky is blue and the weather seems to not be as hot or humid as yesterday.

This is a really hilly area and we are not quite sure how the walking is going to be for either of us. We are going to take each day as it comes. Guess that is the best way to live life anyway.

Wow - a play ground on top of the garage. That sounds like fun. The garlic bread sounds so yummy. we would love to see some photos of those birds you were listening to.
Also, we noticed some black things on poles on the ground by the glass wall they kind of looked like saddles. or maybe some kind of antenna. Or seats. What are those?
Ella says "I love you grand mommy and granddaddy" and Christopher and mommy agree!
