Christmas Day- Belize City, Belize

Merry Christmas!!
Had a wonderful time last evening Christmas Caroling in the Atrium. People were all dressed in their Christmas finery and lots of singing filled the air. We especially liked the keyboard player in his suit with matching tie, a woman with a Christmas tree on her head and red fluffy slippers on her feet and the Assistant Cruise Director who had a Santa hat with “Naughty“ embroidered on one side and “Nice” on the other. The Cruise Director Lorraine was the leader of the singing. We've been on several Regent Cruises when she was the Director and she is always pleasant and always busy.

We went early to the caroling to get a seat and so watched all the
family groupings making photos on the steps and at the Christmas Tree. Kathy and Bos joined us at the end of the singing. We began the evening with wine and appetizers in their stateroom. We were able to get a table in the section we like with the server, Salvador, whom we like, so we proceeded to dinner.

Dinner was delicious, service was great and conversation was lively and fun.  We moved onto the Christmas Show…or at least some of us did that. There are many talented performers and also staff members aboard the Mariner.

Clocks were turned back an hour getting us to Central time and we awoke as we anchored in the harbor of Belize City, Belize. Had room service breakfast. Our tour today was canceled. Perhaps 10:00 AM was a little too early to start tasting rum anyway. They tell us it is a 25 minute tender ride to shore so we decided not to even go ashore today. Tried to call Bill and his family and Kathryn and hers but the ship is positioned so the satellite isn’t working at the moment. We’ll try later in hopes we can say “Merry Christmas” to them.

Went to the Compass Rose for lunch and sat on the balcony when we returned to the stateroom remembering Christmases past. So much for which to be thankful.
