Katakolon-July 1
Christopher with dessert |
The other evening Christopher and Will appeared after a
visit to the Lido. Christopher had many strawberries and lots of chocolate
sauce that he totally enjoyed. Everybody is discovering all the many places
where food can be found and enjoyed.
The Ancient Olympic Village tour was led by a very
enthusiastic young woman who knew a great deal, but she wasn’t particularly attuned
to the children’s interests. They visited the village and everybody learned
something they didn’t know about the ancient Olympics. Mid-way of the tour Ella and Will decided to
come home, eat and let her nap. That is the benefit of a private tour and
parents not afraid to just grab a taxi and head home. Jack was racing at the Olympic
Village and fell. So we had a scraped-up Olympian return to the ship, but he
quickly recovered.
Ethan after swimming |
Bill’s crowd returned to the ship for lunch and Kathryn and
Christopher ate at a café beside the ship. All the young guys went swimming and
played Chess with the giant Chess pieces on the upper deck. Will and Bill did
the parental duty at both places. Thank goodness for that!!
They have all gotten comfortable with where things are on the ship and able to take their room keys and go in search of whatever they need. There have only been a few lost keys which can be easily replaced. Nice to have such responsible and resourceful family members around!
Small Flower arrangement |
The florist staff came and brought new flowers to this
wonderful space. There is a lovely small arrangement in the window at the desk,
a huge arrangement of glads and roses on the dining room table and a smaller arrangement
in the living room.

Our deck is so huge it took three pictures to even get the
perspective. It is a great place to rest, relax and watch the world go by. We especially enjoyed it today, as the sun was
not directly shining on us for most of the day. The little harbor of Katakolon
was very quiet with only small boats moving about. We saw a local train that
came and went in a circle route around the island….or at least that is what we
decided it must be.
As we sailed out in the afternoon, the ship stirred up lots
of mud and sand causing the young guys watching from the deck to think we had
hit bottom, might sink, or for sure be stopped. None of that was true. And we
were off for Santorini.
The moon was beautiful last evening and we lingered on the
deck for a long time. Love this life!

I think you are being spoiled for any other cruises,! Sounds like the whole gang is enjoying their freedom to do their own thing. Love that!
Love your comment about the train - it's fun to invent stories about things we see on trips even if we're not sure they're accurate. Who will ever know the difference? (LOL) Beautiful deck, suite, flowers - amazing!
