The Barnett B & B is terrific!

Bill in the kitchen

Having slept soundly and for about 9 hours last night I was ready to explore the Barnett B & B. Ordnance Hill, the street where it is located, is relatively quiet. When we arrived on Thursday morning we were able to get a parking spot right at the front door.

Last evening, Friday, Bill fixed a wonderful dinner of oven fried cod, steamed green beans, marvelous potatoes cooked in the slow cooker, and fruit salad. It was fun to watch him scurry around and then to enjoy conversation together as we ate the yummy food.

The Back Garden
Bill Just out the back door from the Living Room is this  lovely back garden In that while circle is a small bench to sit and enjoy the garden. There is also some teak furniture for a comfy sitting spot. None of the surrounding neighbors can see into the garden so it is really private and nice.

The Living Room

After dinner we had a good, relaxing and fun time watching the movie Chef. Seemed appropriate since Bill has become quite the chef. We laughed a lot at the funny escapades and the life challenges between the Chef/Dad and his young son....plus we loved the wonderful moments of community and family connections.

The living room is large with a huge skylight that has two panels tat can be opened. The sofa is very comfortable for sitting and chatting or watching TV. They have the most marvelous Dyson bladeless fan which can easily be made a rotating fan or simply turn so it points more directly. Amazing how cool it keeps the room. The bookcases are filled with treasured books and a huge variety of games to be enjoyed.

The flat has 4 stories with bedrooms on the top floors, the Master Bedroom and Bath on the 3rd floor, a half bath on the second floor and the first floor has the Entrance, Kitchen, and Living Room.

The big challenge for us is the staircase. We only have to go 15 steps up to the bedroom and bath since Bill was kind enough to loan us the Master Bedroom suite. The stairs are narrow and steep with a kinky curve at the landing where the half bath is located. Thank goodness there is a sturdy wooden bannister to aid our climb.

The Master Bath has a lovely big, deep, Jacuzzi  tub, a big shower, lots of counter space around the sink and  naturally a toilet and as most bathrooms in this part of the world .....a bidet.

The Master Bedroom has a really comfortable mattress, big windows and a marvelous floor model air conditioner. We are about to have a couple really hot days- much hotter than Florida but at least much less humidity. Makes me so  grateful for Bill's kindness in giving us their bedroom.

This flat is much bigger than I had pictured after watching shows like House Hunters International, where all of the places they show seem so tiny. I feel your pain with the stairs! It makes you careful to take up or down anything you may need - or ask Bill to get it for you since he is probably used to them. The back garden area looks lovely. Take care.

Thanks Sue. It is bigger and except for the stairs it is really comfortable. I about fainted when I learned the rent- 1500 pounds a week. Nice to have such a lovely B&B with such a great host and at such a reasonable price.

Yikes! Is the cost of other things as steep? (Food, gas, utilities) It really puts things in perspective. Glad you raised such a talented son (and daughter).
